Gaylaxicon on a budget

My spouse and I would really like to go to Gaylaxicon, but with hotel for three nights running $600, never mind gas and food and everything else, I'm not sure we can justify the expense. Are there any cheaper hotels nearby? Loathe as I am to not stay in the convention hotel, I'm even more loathe to skip the convention entirely.

Well, I'd always be happy to be a roomate...

I should clarify -- if I go, my husband's coming with me. So any rooming arrangement would have to factor that into account. Also? He snores. Not always, but often enough that I feel a fair warning is in order.

I don't mind rooming with couples of any orientation or combination and have done so before. And I can and have slept through thunderstorms and even mild earthquakes. :)

The only thing that would be a no for me is if either of you is planning on drinking heavily in the room (basically I had a Situation recently with someone who was drunk and just can't be around alcohol for awhile thanks to him). Otherwise that's all fine.

We're not heavy drinkers. We're too old. Our livers won't take it.

Let me run this by the spousal unit, run some numbers, and see how things look. Thanks!

You're welcome to talk to the social director and stay here if we can accomadate that within the structure. Note, however, that our anniversary is that Monday, and we will happily include you in appropriate celebratory activities, as you will be footing their cost in lieu of a hotel bill.

:)

How far are you from the hotel? And fear not -- Monday would be the day we'd be going home, so we could clear out in plenty of time for your celebratory activities.

Not close, but not unreasonably far. Google indicates about a 30 minute drive. Generic directions.

so we could clear out in plenty of time for your celebratory activities

What a crummy way of saying you don't want to buy us dinner after we put you up for the weekend.

:) :)

LOL!

We have no intention of being ungracious guests. But we also have every intention of being back on the road in time to sleep in our own bed on Monday night. If we do take you up on the sofa thang, we shall find a way to make it up to you some other night!

No worries. :)

Depending on your arrival time, there are plenty of meal time/location choices, both near the house and the hotel.

Have you decided to drive, train or fly?

I think we're waffling between train or drive, but if we stay somewhere that isn't walking distance to the hotel (like, say, your place), it'll be driving.

Also, I need to gauge Andy's reaction to sleeping in a house with a small child in it. Small children are not his favorite thing in the world.

Customer service at its finest!
Small children are not his favorite thing in the world.

Don't worry.

We can restrict Andy's activities and places within the house so that he won't interfere with the small child.

Plus, the guest room and basement both have doors to allow for varying degrees of social disdain for one's hosts and family or other anti-social behavior that may arise.

If you desire additional methods of separation, we can arrange for temporary independent security credentials that will allow private ingress and egress from the facility, without the need to notify management for an escort!

At Chateau De Ne Me Regarde Pas we won't even think you're here!

:)

You could always sell Apex a new story.

Oh, you're next in line for one that I should be hearing back on real soon now.

Make it a good one. Competition is even tougher now that we're paying base pro-rates.

What, you mean I can't sell you crap like "Big Sister/Little Sister" anymore? ;)

Ha! Just like an insecure writer to make it sound as such!

I challenge you to write another story as great as "Big Sister/Little Sister"! :P

If I pull it off, "Lacerta" could be just as creepy.
